DayAway is your online destination for booking hotel experiences by the day. From luxury daycation packages to unique WFH solutions, DayAway has curated the perfect escapes for you.Founded by Martha Waslen, DayAway aims to reinvent the hospitality economy by creating an entirely new model centered around experiences and possibilities instead of sheer necessity. The platform is focused on meeting the needs of today’s holiday goers and modern workers living in the time of a pandemic. An online destination where users can browse, compare and book hotel experiences by the day.
We were engaged to create the brand name and design the brand identity of DayAway
The main focus for this project was to bring across the essence of the DayAway experience – bringing connectivity and belonging back into people’s lives. Having a name and look that encapsulates the brand’s progressive ethos is fundamental in supporting the brand's launch as market leaders and a trusted authority in the travel and hospitality sphere. To get a sense of what DayAway stands for, the team sat down with Martha to hear the story of how it all started. “We were all stuck at home [during the pandemic] – isolated and restless. I wanted to create a new community and a new concept of a second space,” Martha expressed. The brand name we developed is derived from the words 'day' and 'away'— alluding to a service that is ready to assist in ‘your ultimate escape’. We took a modern and minimalist approach in designing the wordmark, using the abstract ‘A’ as a unique symbol, easily recognisable as seen in the application of an app icon. The modern and sleek logo, along with the brand language celebrates the minimal and pure nature of DayAway, evoking a sense of serenity and professionalism.DayAway’s colour palette is made up of a dusty grey - a colour so effortlessly classy - and a shade of turquoise that adds to the identity a hint of freshness. The pairing conveys the emotions of a perfect day away.
